4K Community Outreach

4K students will attend special events that foster community and enhance the home/school connection. The 4K Team has planned events at school or in the surrounding area. We encourage an adult family member to meet us there. Younger siblings are also welcome to join! During Outreach Days we have seen genuine, family friendships form and grow throughout the year! It’s a fantastic way to meet the families you will be walking alongside during your child’s school years.

Each student will be required to pay $15.00 to cover bus costs for the five events that are outside of school. Please pay this fee as soon as possible via Skyward.  If you prefer to take your child home after these events we will ask you to sign them out with your child’s teacher before leaving.

Please note: Outreach Days to Pearce’s and the Discovery Center will have additional fees for students and adults. Those will be collected prior to each trip.

DPI 4K Outreach Statement

4K outreach supports the belief that families are valued core partners in the educational process. Families have both the right and the responsibility to share in decisions about their child's education and development. Outreach is intended to develop and promote partnerships between families and schools and to support families in their role as the primary educators of their children.

  • The DPI recommends Outreach to support school, family, and community relationships. (see links above)
  • Families are able to connect, meet one another, and develop a parent network.
  • Families are able to spend time with their child's teachers. Get to know them and see them interact with their students.
  • Families become aware of the resources in their own community.
  • All Outreach activities are free or sponsored by the PTO. There is no cost to families.
  • Children are able to have community experiences that they may not otherwise experience.
  • Children are welcome to attend with a parent, grandparent, adult sibling, or friend's family. Some working parents send their child to attend with another student's family, who they connected with through an outreach event. Working parents have found numerous ways to help their child attend the Outreach Days.
  • We try to schedule some of the activities in the morning or afternoon to accommodate different schedules.
  • It is a similar childcare situation as Inservice Days.
